Private Menopause
and Hormone specialist

I’m Helen, a menopause and hormone specialist and member of the British Menopause Society. I run a private practice with a clinic in Hartley Wintney, where I treat patients for hormone related therapy as well as aesthetic treatments.

With over 30 years experience working as an NHS GP and 15 years as a hormone specialist, I provide my patients with specialist and tailored care to meet their exact needs.

My Services

I provide hormone therapy and aesthetic treatments to both men and women. Before commencing treatment, I always conduct a full consultation and examination to assess your needs and discuss your medical history.

Hormone Therapy (Women)

I take a tailored approach to each patient, to achieve optimum results for each individual.

  • HRT

    HRT

Hot flushes, night sweats, anxiety, palpitations, tiredness, mood disturbance, bladder symptoms, vaginal dryness, joint pains and headaches are all symptoms of low oestrogen related to the Perimenopasue or menopause.

These can be helped by transdermal or oral oestrogen, balanced by progesterone to protect the womb lining in a bespoke, tailored approach.

  • PMT and PMDD

    PMT and PMDD

Cyclical symptoms (such as mood disturbance, depression, anxiety, irritability, anger, fatigue and difficulty concentrating) that vary in severity and can be severe and debilitating to the lives of sufferers.

These can be treated with lifestyle modification and medications such as hormone supplementation and SSRI antidepressants.

  • Tiredness

    Tiredness

This can be a symptom of low hormones but can also be related to other medical conditions such as anaemia, low ferritin or hypothyroidism.

Blood tests can help distinguish the cause.

  • PCOS

    PCOS

Polycystic ovary syndrome is a common condition that affects how a woman’s ovaries work.

Symptoms can include irregular periods, difficulty getting pregnant, weight gain, excess androgens causing acne and excess facial and body hair.

Management includes lifestyle modifications, hormone supplementation to correct imbalances and medication to reduce insulin levels to reverse PCOS.

  • Testosterone deficiency

    Testosterone deficiency

Testosterone hormone is produced in the ovaries and adrenal glands.

All women have small amounts of testosterone for normal hormone functioning. Levels decline in the perimenopause and menopause to cause poor sleep, vivid dreams, reduced memory, attention, concentration, motivation, loss of mojo and low libido or reduced sexual functioning.

Testosterone supplementation is carefully managed to correct symptoms.

  • Hair loss

    Hair loss

Hair loss is a common symptom related to declining oestragen levels.

This can have a devastating effect on some women, and correction of hormones can lead to improved hair growth and reduction in hair loss.

Blood tests may be required to exclude other causes of hair loss, such as low iron levels and hypothyroid.

  • Central weight gain

    Central weight gain

I assess degree of insulin resistance, which can cause central abdominal weight gain, difficulty losing weight, carbohydrate cravings and poor hormone function.

Long term insulin resistance can cause an increase in cardiovascular disease and diabetes. This can be managed with dietary advice and medication.

Hormone Therapy (Men)

In addition to women, I see men for hormone consultations. I use hormone supplementation, with testosterone gel or nebido injections to correct low testosterone levels, with full administration and monitoring services.

  • Low libido

    Low libido

Reduced sexual desire can occur as testosterone levels decline with age.

Testosterone levels can be measured with a blood test and supplementation given if required. This can be with gel or injections every 10-12 weeks.

  • Reduced sexual performance

    Reduced sexual performance

Erectile dysfunction causing difficulty maintaining or achieving an erection can be a devastating symptom for some men.

Blood tests can exclude physical causes and medication can be prescribed to improve performance.

  • Andropause

    Andropause

Men suffer a similar decline in hormones as they age to women. This can cause sweats, poor sleep, fatigue, anxiety, loss of mojo and mood disturbance.

This can be managed with lifestyle modifications, and medication.

  • Central abdominal weight gain and insulin resistance

Central abdominal weight gain and insulin resistance

I assess degree of insulin resistance, which can cause central abdominal weight gain, difficulty losing weight, carbohydrate cravings, and poor hormone function.

Long term insulin resistance can cause an increase in cardiovascular disease and diabetes. This can be managed with dietary advice and medication.

Aesthetic

I have been performing aesthetic procedures since my training in 2012. I continue to attend courses to expand my expertise and experience. I previously worked in The Skin Clinic in North Wanborough.

  • Botox

    Botox

Injections to relax the facial muscles to reduce lines. This can be done in the upper face and lower face.

Hyperhidrosis can also be treated with botox injections to reduce excessive sweating.

  • Fillers

    Fillers

I use Juvaderm fillers to reduce deep lines in the naso-labial regions, marionette lines, cheeks, lips, and chin and jaw with the new Volux filler.

I perform facial contouring, looking at the face as a whole.

  • Skin consultations for Obagi

    Skin consultations for Obagi

The Obaji range of products cover all aspects of skin care, with prescription strength products to improve skin texture and quality and reduce signs of ageing.

  • Profhilo

    Profhilo

This is a stabilised injectable hyaluronic acid (HA) based product for treating skin laxity.

With one of the highest concentrations of HA on the market (64mg / 2ml) it is not only boosting and hydrating the skin, but also remodels the ageing and sagging tissue.
